FoodOrders Agent prints through compatible printers installed in Windows. Search for your model, review its verification status, and complete a test print before enabling kitchen orders.

We do not claim to support every printer. Each listing below shows exactly how much evidence sits behind it, and anything not tested by us says so plainly.

Two pathways

Two different ways your tickets can print

They are not interchangeable, and we never merge them into one compatibility claim.

FoodOrders Windows Agent

A small FoodOrders app runs on a Windows computer in your restaurant. It finds the printers already installed in Windows and sends kitchen tickets through the normal Windows printing system.

  • • Broad reach — the manufacturer supplies the Windows driver, we print through it.
  • • Works with many thermal, impact, receipt and standard printers.
  • • Needs an always-on Windows PC on the same network as the printer.
  • • Requires a successful FoodOrders test print before live orders are enabled.

FoodOrders Agent can print through compatible printers correctly installed in Windows. Select your kitchen printer and complete a successful test print before enabling order printing.

Direct cloud printing

Certain printers talk to our cloud themselves over the manufacturer's own protocol — the printer polls us, so no local computer is involved. Star CloudPRNT is the protocol we build against today.

  • • No Windows PC to maintain.
  • • Narrow by design: specific model, interface, protocol and firmware.
  • • Not every printer from a supporting manufacturer qualifies.
  • • Only models we have implemented and tested are listed as verified.

A printer may support the Windows Agent, direct cloud printing, both, or neither. Check the model before you buy.

Colour alone never carries the meaning — every chip states its evidence level in words.

Windows Agent compatibility levels

  • FoodOrders Verified

    We physically tested this exact model and configuration and a FoodOrders kitchen ticket printed correctly. Other interface variants are not automatically verified.

  • Customer Confirmed

    A real FoodOrders location reported a successful test print on this exact model. Configurations vary — complete your own test print.

  • Manufacturer driver available — test required

    The manufacturer publishes an official Windows driver for this model. We expect it to work through FoodOrders Agent, but we have not physically tested it. A test print is required.

  • Compatibility candidate — test required

    This model is commonly installed as a standard Windows printer. We have neither tested it nor reviewed a customer report. It may work — a FoodOrders test print is required.

  • Compatibility unknown

    We do not have enough reliable evidence for this model. Contact support before purchasing.

  • Not currently supported

    We could not find a workable Windows driver, or the printer is locked to a proprietary POS environment.

Direct cloud levels

  • Direct Cloud Verified

    We have implemented the printer's cloud protocol and tested this exact model, interface and firmware. No local Windows computer is required.

  • Manufacturer cloud protocol documented — not yet implemented

    The manufacturer documents a cloud protocol for this model, but we have not completed and tested the integration for it.

  • Direct cloud planned

    Direct cloud support for this model is on our roadmap. It is not available today.

  • No direct cloud printing

    This model has no direct cloud path with FoodOrders. Use the Windows Agent instead.

Setup

Using your existing printer

No printer yet? Install anyway.

  1. Install and pair FoodOrders Agent on your Windows PC.
  2. Orders appear on the kitchen screen immediately, with or without a printer.
  3. When the printer arrives, open the Agent, choose Refresh printers, select it, and run a test print.

Adding your first printer

  1. Install the printer and its official driver in Windows.
  2. Confirm a Windows test page prints.
  3. Open FoodOrders Agent and select Refresh printers.
  4. Choose the printer, then Save and print test page.
  5. Confirm the kitchen ticket is correct before enabling order printing.

Replacing or switching a printer

  1. Install the replacement in Windows while the current printer keeps running.
  2. Refresh the printer list in FoodOrders Agent.
  3. Select the replacement and print a test page.
  4. Save it as the active kitchen printer.
  5. Only then remove the old printer from Windows.
Safety rule: a newly discovered printer, or a change to the Windows default printer, never silently redirects live kitchen orders. If the saved printer disappears, the Agent pauses printing to it, keeps jobs durably queued, and shows a “Saved printer unavailable” warning with Refresh, Test and Change printer actions. Switching always needs an explicit selection and a successful test.

Send us the manufacturer, exact model, Windows version, connection type, driver name and version, and whether the test ticket, cutter and buzzer behaved. Every submission goes into a review queue — reports never change a public status automatically, and we never publish your restaurant name or any customer information.

Send us a unit and we will run the full verification checklist and publish an honest, evidence-backed result.
